One of our passions here at Medical-Library is cosmetic surgery, the advances in this field are particularly interesting. One example is using facial rejuvenation using an endoscope, an endoscope is a tiny camera inserted through a micro-incision and displayed on a monitor. Brow lifts that previously required an incision from ear to ear can now be done using tiny incisions on the scalp. Instead of the old cut and tuck face lifts, the endoscope approach only requires a few small incisions in the scalp and under eyelids. Lasers have also come a long way, they are the new scalpel for plastic surgeons. Lasers not only provide a much more precise incision, it also cauterizes the skin while cutting. Lasers can also be used to treat unwanted vascular lesions, the red blotches that appear with aging known as port wine stains. Even long existing lesions can be significantly reduced in just a few procedures using laser surgery technique, the best thing is the procedure is pretty much pain free and is an out patient visit. Red spots on hands and other locations can also be diminished using lasers… kind of like touching up a paint job on a car!
